Central Committee Statement on the anniversary of the foundation of the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers’ Trade Unions, 13.02.2015
We are celebrating the 48th anniversary of the foundation of the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers’ Trade Unions (DISK), one of the most significant working class organizations in Turkey.
The Communist Party, Turkey, once again salutes the founding cadres and militant vanguard workers of DISK who have contributed to the achievements of the working class against capital in Turkey.
Today, in the metal sector, the vanguard workers and members of DISK are faced with the new strike law of the regime of the capitalist class. The ‘new Turkey’ of AKP promises unchecked exploitation for the sake of bosses. Such exploitation is not only eased with bans on strikes, dismissal of workers, deunionization, and murder of workers. The ‘new Turkey’ also imposes upon workers to pay homage to their bosses, to forget about the concept of rights, and to give in to any injustice under the pretext of faith. The AKP government aspires for a garden of roses without thorns for the capitalist class.
Despite all the foregoing, DISK is entering its 48th year with the honorable struggle raised by the metal workers, who have not given in to strike ban imposed by the AKP government and the bosses. They have risen up to keep on struggle.
The working class no longer has an option except for returning strong and persistent responses to the loss of rights, which is not an exception but a rule in any sector.
The Communist Party, while celebrating the anniversary of DISK, underlines its faith in the fact that the working class, with its struggle against exploitation, will drive the thieves, murderers and zealots away from these lands.
Workers will definitely see those beautiful days. The metal workers who shout the slogan, “factories will be graves for bosses” and the working people who shout, “this is just the beginning…” on the streets are signs of those beautiful days.
AKP, together with its strike bans, will be thrown into the garbage.
The working class will definitely come to power!
