Central Committee Statement on the decease of Beria Onger, 14.02.2015
Beria Onger, the first and only president of IKD, the powerful and revolutionary women’s organization of the 1970s, passed away.
IKD, which organized many powerful and conclusive nationwide political campaigns since its foundation in 1975 until its closure before the coup d’état, established a significant front against the severe assaults of the regime against women.
Today, in turn, our country is faced with a deep darkness and women are confronted with the most severe consequences of any kind of reactionism, exploitation and violence.
Yet, there is hope.
There is the power, determination and wisdom of the hands, which reached out against the violence of the police, extended to protect their sons and daughters, and carried medicine to injured bodies in June 2013. Such power, determination and wisdom is backed by an honorable history of struggles.
The uncompromising communist identity and struggle of Beria Onger is a torch lit against darkness.
We hold that torch is in our hands.
We are going to tear down the darkness of AKP and we are going to found a bright and enlightened country!
Socialism will overcome with women!
