Communist and Workers’ Parties will meet in Turkey​

Central Committee Statement on the WG Meeting of IMCWP, 02.02.2015

The Working Group of International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties was held on January 31-February 01, 2015 in Istanbul. Workers’ Party of Belgium, Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), Communist Party of Cuba, The Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL), Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, Communist Party of Greece, Communist Party of India, Tudeh Party of Iran, Lebanese Communist Party, Portuguese Communist Party, Communist Party of Russian Federation, Russian Workers’ Communist Party, and the Communist Party of Ukraine participated in the meeting hosted by the Communist Party, Turkey.

The Working Group discussed on the preparations and decided on the subject of the 17th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties, which is to be held this year. The subject of the meeting was decided as “The tasks of Communist and Workers’ Parties to strengthen the struggle of the working class against capitalist exploitation, imperialist wars and fascism, for workers’ and peoples’ emancipation, for socialism” and the Communist Party, Turkey, was assigned as the host the meeting.

The Working Group also evaluated the proposals for the improvement of the productivity of the annual meetings.

The parties participating in the Working Group meeting also released a common statement for solidarity with the metal workers whose strike has been cancelled by the AKP government. Further statements were released for solidarity with Palestine and Ukraine.

Following the termination of the Working Group sessions, the representatives of the guest parties participated in the opening ceremony of an exhibition organized by the Communist Party at Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center commemorating the assassination of Mustafa Suphi, the first leader of the Communist Party of Turkey, and his comrades.
